Neodymium magnet assembly
Perfect acoustical coupling
Smooth frequency response
Very high sensitivity
800 Hz crossover
Extended high frequency response up to 20 kHz

Introduction:

The BMS LA102ND is a high frequency line array transducer, designed to produce a planar wave front from a 8”x1” rectangular throat. It employs a pair of 4552 ND compression drivers coupled to a special dual wave guide containing a common vertical slot to radiate a coherent planar wave front.

The 4552 neodymium drivers are mounted on a mutual aluminium heat sink for increased power handling and reduced power compression.

What is the difference between LA102ND and 4510ND?

While the 4510ND Planar wave driver is a distinctive new transducer engineered to radiate a coherent planar wave front from a rectangular piston without internal diffraction the LA102ND use more conventional wave guide design techniques to reshape the compression driver’s spherical wave front into planar wave front .

Application:

The acoustical performance of the LA102ND is very similar to a pair of 4510ND. The extremely high sensitivity and smooth frequency response from 800 Hz to 20 kHz together with the high power handling makes the LA102ND the best solution for high quality, high SPL line arrays.

Compatibility:

The LA102ND is dimensionally compatible to two 4510ND units coupled together, so the system can be upgraded later.

Two or more LA102ND units can couple together to create virtually continuous line source.

Specifications LA102ND

Throat 8” x 1" (206,6 x 25,4 mm) rectangular piston

Nominal impedance 2 x 16 Ohm

Power capacity (AES) 2 x 80 W

Peak power 2 x 450 W

Sensitivity in:

CD Horn 120°x 10° 115 dB 1W/1m

Maximal SPL (cont.) 137 dB @ 160 W

Frequency range 500 - 20.000 Hz

Recommended crossover 800 Hz

Voice coil diameter 2 x 1,75" (44,4 mm)

Magnet material Neodymium

Flux density 2,2 T

Voice coil material Cooper Clad Aluminium (2 layers Inside and outside of the VC)

Voice coil former Kapton

Diaphragm material Polyester

Mounting information

Overall Dimensions 211 x 85 x 133 mm

Net weight 3 kg

A typical large diapfragm dome compression driver has a limited high frequency response. Over 8 kHz the dome diaphragm breaks up causing resonance and harsh, metallic sound. The patented design of the BMS 4594 is a result of extensive dedicated research and development providing matic improvement in dynamic response, clarity and ansparency. The BMS annular midrange diaphragm covers the frequency range between 300 and 7.000 Hz with a smooth, linear
response. The large diaphragm excursion of max. +/-0,8 mm results in high output and increased power handling up to 1.300 W peak.

<font class="text-red"
2" High Power Coaxial Compression Driver á Patented Design

In a conventional Full Range compression driver the phase plug must be located extremely close to the diaphragm, excursion of the diaphragm is limited and middle frequency performance is compromised.

A typical 2" dome compression driver has a limited high frequency response. Over 8 kHz the dome diaphragm breaks up causing resonance and harsh, metallic sound.

The BMS annular midrange diaphragm covers the frequency range between 400 and 7.000 Hz with a smooth, linear response. The large diaphragm excursion of max. ±0,8 mm results in high output and increased power handling up to 1.300 W peak.

The ultra light annular diaphragm for the high range offers exceptional transient response with very high efficiency from 6 kHz to 21 kHz.

Extended bandwidth (400-21.000 Hz)

High efficiency

With two subsystems in one, each driver covers a smaller frequency range for increased power handling, high dynamic and extremely low distortion

Excellent phase coherence

Point source sound reproduction

Perfect time alignment without the problems of multi-source interference
It has an exceptional dynamic range and produces even the most complex music signals with depth and definition.

BMS Elektronik GmbH located in Hannover, Germany is a leading manufacturer of compression drivers. BMS products are used by professional speaker and high-end companies globally.

The patented BMS design remarkably reduces diaphragm weight and inertia. There is no loss of energy required to drive conventional diaphragms. That is why BMS drivers have higher sound pressure level and less dynamic compression than conventional designs.

Specifications 4550

Throat diameter 1" (25,4 mm)

Nominal impedance 8 or 16 Ohm

Power capacity (AES) 80 W

Peak power 450 W

Sensitivity in:

CD Horn 90°x75°, 1W / 1m 113 dB

Plane wave tube, 1mW 118 dB

Maximal SPL (cont.) 132 dB @ 80 W

Frequency range 500 - 20.000 Hz

Recommended crossover 800 Hz

Voice coil diameter 1,75" (44,4 mm)

Magnet material Ceramic

Flux density 2,0 T

Voice coil material Cooper Clad Aluminium

Voice coil former Kapton

Diaphragm material Polyester

Mounting information

Overall Diameter 123 mm

Depth 52 mm

Net weight 2,25 kg
